Mid-summer nature walk

 | On 20 June 2010, in partnership with Transition Mayfield, Jacqueline
Thompson of Wildlife Splash led a nature walk through the fields and
woodland close to the village. She showed how to unpick the story of
land use past and present that has resulted in the marvellous
biodiversity of plants and animals that Mayfield supports. Pitfall
traps, kick sampling in the stream and sweep netting the grassland
revealed beetles, grasshoppers and mayfly nymphs. |
